Clean?

Well right now the Ontario government is telling me not to clean because it uses energy so I'm not! I think everyone has their own cleaning style–I can't stand dirty counters, clutter (unless I've "arranged" it thus making it a "collection"!)–basically I like clean and tidy surfaces but I can live with only cleaning my fridge when my mother-in-law is coming once a year, ditto the freezer. I HATE dusting but I like vaccuuming, and I'll sweep because if I don't it's revolting but I can't stand mopping. Hmmm, thank god for cleaning ladies.

I also have one child who is super clean with his person not his room and one who could care less. Lesser than less really. Bathtime is a HUGE struggle. Sitting in the water is great but actually washing? We have to make it a game, a bribe, a threat. Fun stuff!

Anyway, enough about me, suffice it to say, it is not me in this illustration although I do have a swiffer...

This is good...great expressions. Me too with the dusting. I vacuum daily but dust rarely!

This gal is such a perfect stereotype of the 50s housewife...everything must be perfectly clean! I love the texture of the clothing and the great expressions on her face and his face. I get the feeling he gets dusted on a regular basis:>

well, how fun is this!?! your clean needs are quite similar to mine (wouldn't dust if a foot of it were piled up on my mantle), yet i vaccuum as is the president were due for a visit at any moment! must be the cat-hair tumbleweeds....

Love the old fashion feel to this Jooli and such a FUN concept.

I'm on my way to Ontario on Friday-can't wait, can't wait!

So good to see your posts, I am afraid I have been away from Blogging much due to summer projects. Love the Jane's Jungle Juice too!

did the government suggest ways to clean without using energy? Or did they say, "just forget it, dont even clean"? Anyway, cute piece.

This is great, she's so matter of fact about it al. I hope she's not using the same duster she cleaned the house with yuck!

Can't live without the Swiffer. Got two cats shedding like mad in the heat....good ol' Swiffer to the rescue. Just discovered the hardwood floor Swiffer and saw there's a Swiffer Vac. OK, enough about that glorious product. Your illo's a lot of fun. I love the 50's look and feel here. And I love the facial expressions on both of them. A really fun illustration!

I feel the same way about dusting - ugh! But i'll vaccuum or scrub the bathroom anytime.

Grear illo. The kid's expression is priceless!

I wish my government would tell me not to clean house. I can just hear the conversations now...

"Oh, Honey, you know I would have washed your favorite jeans, but it just wouldn't be patriotic!"

Cute illo...like the textural quality of your colors. Great expressions too - there's a real story in this illo that makes it intriguing. Drama!

I laughed when I saw this. I can totally relate to your post, having two children and I live in Ontario too. Hopefully we will get some relief from this heat today. Finally.
