Phobia

I combined my phobias for this week's Illustration Friday - mice and heights. I have a fear of wallpaper too but I left that out! Right now my 9 year-old is petrified of birds. He hates walking down the path to school because they fly in and out of the hedges that line it. So we're trying all sorts of things to make him tolerant and so he doesn't freak out when a seagull is casing the grocery store parking lot looking for goodies. Any suggestions are welcome!

Probably not a good idea to let him watch the Hitchcock movie "The Birds"...that won't help. And your fear of wallpaper...fear of putting it up or just looking at it? Interesting. Neat illustration - I love the collage aspect and what you've done with her hair!

i absolutely love the style, layout, and design of this one.

its interesting because on one hand she should feel safe because she is far away from the mouse, but then she is afaid of the heights so that makes it just as bad.

great idea!!

this is a wonderful illo u captured the fear of height so well as for birds i find a 12 gauge shot gun always works well for birds. look wht it did for the VP. but seriously thats a tough one. hope someone has a good idea for u.

I really like your style, the legs of the chair are so playful! Maybe you should find some good books for your son that possibly portrait birds as sweet and as colorful as possible. Seagulls are certainly noisy and behave like bullies, but they also have a funny walk: it's good to laugh about it!

Didn't he tell you about the "Stick of Courage"? He was doing so incredibly when you were away.

All these things I've been meaning to debrief you on...

Cute illustration. Your collage and textures look super. The mouse is such a cute little chunker. Perhaps the little squeaker is just looking for a bite of brie.

This is just wonderful! The fear of wallpaper totally cracked me up! I have the same fear - it almost ended my marriage. :) Thank you for the nice comment! I've been out of town and didn't have a chance to do Phobia. Good thing - I have so many I'd have trouble picking which to do!!! Keep up the great work! You have a wonderful clean style!

Great! Sorry to hear you have a fear of wallpaper, I just bought 3 double rolls to wallpaper my bathroom. Guess you won't be coming over any time soon. Buggers! :(
