When I was little my parents entertained a lot. It was always so much fun to see them and their friends all dressed up and they'd serve fancy food and drinks. My sisters and I would dance to entertain them. Picture a 4-year-old with pink cat-eye glasses and Shirley Temple ringlets in a flannel nightie dancing on a big round orange nagahide footstool that twisted - good times! I'd kill for that footstool now.

I'm calling the couple on the left the Wallace-Scotts. I haven't decided on the right side couple... maybe they are on their first date - she's a divorcee and they are trying to fix the two of them up... what do you think?

I recently went through all of my Grandma's old photos. There were many with party scenes similar to this one (minus the color). She was good enough to write on the back of each. Her parties usually included the Roses, the Palusos and the Tedrows. :)

Also, my little witch isn't holding her dress up (although that may have been funnier). She's holding a trick or treat sack. :)

Lovely scene!
You described it so well that it's easy to view it from a child's point of view, charming memories :)

Oh wow, that is exactly how I want to look when I'm dressed up! They are so elegant and sophisticated, your two retro couples having cocktails.

Really nice image and artwork. It reminds me of my grandmother's old photos. Did you draw anything else in this style?
